Connecticut Resident to Lawmakers: The Constitution Did Not Guarantee Public Safety, it Guaranteed Liberty

Introducing more guns laws in Connecticut will do nothing to prevent another tragedy like that which took place in Newtown last year. Nevertheless, the state’s lawmakers insist that “there are solutions” out there, like creating more laws.

Vernon, Conn. resident Robert Steed disagrees. Steed had the opportunity to testify at the hearing this week and stand up for Americans’ constitutional rights.

“The Constitution did not guarantee public safety, it guaranteed liberty,” he told the lawmakers. “And sometimes what comes with liberty is tragedy, unfortunately.”
