Oregon Robber Uses Baseball Bat In Gun Store: What Was He Thinking?

Its self-defense stories like these that make us worry about the logic of our youth.  22 year-old Derrick Mosley found himself outgunned, literally, when he decided to rob a gun store near Portland, Oregon.

Armed with only a baseball bat and a knife, Mosley proceeded to enter Discount Gun Sales and smash a glass display case.  His plan?  Grab a handgun out of the display and hold up the store.

Only one problem.  Well there are multiple problems but let’s address the first one.  When Mosley grabbed the handgun he immediately realized that there was no ammunition inside the clip (because what store owner in his right mind would allow that)?  Upon making this discover, Mosley found himself being held at gunpoint by the store manager, and was order to put the weapons down.

We can recite the old idiom “never bring a knife to a gunfight”, but really, this takes the cake for stupidest robbery attempt.  This should be common sense.  Either way, the Washington County Sheriff arrested Mosley after finding him on the floor without his weapons.  Police say he’ll be charged with first degree robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Let this be a lesson to anyone that tries to rob a gun owner, be prepared to deal with bullets fired by someone that knows how to use them.
