“David Perdue is the only candidate in this race who will stand up to the Obama-Bloomberg gun control agenda,” said Christopher W. Cox, chairman of the NRA’s Political Victory Fund. “He firmly believes that the Second Amendment guarantees the fundamental, individual right to keep and bear arms for all law-abiding Americans.”

Perdue said he was thrilled to have the support of the NRA-PVF.

“I am honored to receive the support of the NRA and its members across the state of Georgia,” he said.

“As a lifelong hunter and sportsman, I know the Second Amendment is not only about hunting. It is about our right to protect our family, our property, and even our country if necessary,” he said. “As Georgia’s next U.S. Senator, I will fight to protect our Second Amendment right and constitutional freedoms.”

Cox said he is convinced Perdue is personally committed to fighting for gun rights.

“As a son of Middle Georgia who grew up hunting with family and friends, David understands that our Second Amendment transcends hunting,” he said. “David recognizes that the Second Amendment is a fundamental, individual constitutional right.”

Cox said Perdue’s responses on the NRA’s candidate questionnaire earned him an “AQ” rating.

An “AQ” is reserved for a pro-gun candidate whose rating is based on pro-gun responses to the NRA-PVF Candidate Questionnaire and is the highest rating a candidate can receive without a voting record on Second Amendment issues, he said.

Cox said Perdue has stated his strong opposition for any anti-gun nominees for the U.S. Supreme Court, such as Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan. He also will oppose any treaty by the United Nations or any other global organization that would impose restrictions on American gun owners.  Perdue has also stated he strongly opposes the Obama-Bloomberg gun control agenda.

“We can count on David Perdue to stand up for our constitutional freedoms in the U.S. Senate.  The NRA encourages all gun owners and sportsmen in Georgia to vote David Perdue for U.S. Senate on Nov. 4,” he said.
