When Helen Thomas, the cantankerous White House correspondent who has had the privilege of grilling American Presidents since Eisenhower, suggested that all Jews ought to "Get the hell out of Palestine", she revealed a hostile view toward Israel common among her ilk, and an astounding ignorance of history for someone her age (89).  She followed up her insult by suggesting that Jews were occupying land they had no right to, as if they just suddenly showed up there in 1948!  Perhaps Thomas ought to read the Bible.

Following the embarrassing comments, she summarily tendered resignation of a post she had held for fifty years. 

Her resignation is more revealing of attitudes held by this White House than of particular prejudices imbued among media elites who routinely defend every "liberal" cause and castigate "conservatives" for their heartlessness.  "Shuffle her away quick before people think these thoughts are ours!"

Obama’s proclamation that FOX News is not a real news network was followed by the ridiculous suggestion that real news seekers ought to read the Huffington Post.  This reveals everything you need to know about the kind of "veracity" Obama’s administration is interested in.

Our President’s world tours accompanied by submissive bows to foreign leaders communicates an embarrassment he feels for the American nation.  His propensity to coddle enemies and snub friends is incomprehensible. 

When Benjamin Netanyahu visited the White House, our President refused a traditional dinner meeting after Netanyahu failed to assure the "Anointed One" that West Bank construction would immediately cease; like a petulant child, "Well I’ll show you!" 

And so he did, the Israeli delegation left humiliated and so distrustful of the President that it would not use White House phones fearing they could be bugged.  Quite an interesting way to treat one of our closest allies!  

The great danger is not in embarrassing or snubbing the Israeli Prime Minister, but in the message sent out to the Middle East.

Each time American support for Israel has appeared tentative, Arab nations have been encouraged to hostile action against the little country.  The size of Vermont, with about six million Jewish citizens, Israel is surrounded by 450 million Arabs, all quite interested in driving Israeli inhabitants into the Sea.

Imagine yourself out numbered 75 to 1, your most vociferous advocate in the world decides it’s not all that interested in tendering its support.  Its people just elected a guy who doesn’t think America is a Christian nation.  The new leader wants to improve the country’s damaged relationship with Muslim nations.  Damage which occurred just because a few crazy kids commandeered four planes and knocked down a couple silly buildings.  To be sensitive to those unfortunate nations badly represented by their countrymen, the new guy won’t allow his administration to use terms like, "Radical Islam" or "Muslim Terrorist".

Your imagination might make you think you were all on your own!

Now ruminate as neighbors who have vowed to your destruction build their military power.  You’ve given up Gaza for peace only to have the area used as a base for rocket launched attacks into your territory.  You’ve offered to recognize the Palestinian State if it would only remove from its charter the assertion that Israel has no right to exist.  You watch the UN embrace the most offensive human rights violators in the world and they chastise you.

While you venture to gain security for your citizens, the world recognizes great advocates for peace:

In 2009 Barack Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples!

In 2007 the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and Albert Gore Jr. received the prize for their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change.  

In 2005 the International Atomic Energy Agency and Mohamed Elbaradei got the prize for their efforts to prevent nuclear energy from being used for military purposes. 

In 2002 the prize was awarded to Jimmy Carter Jr. for his effort to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts, to advance democracy and human rights, and to promote economic and social development.

In 2001 the prize was awarded to the United Nations for efforts!

Yasser Arafat was awarded in 1994 for his effort in making peace with Israel!

And look at all the lasting Peace these efforts have wrought!

If the Nobel Committee measured peace results instead of peace efforts, Harry Truman would have won for making peace with Japan, Reagan for peace with the Soviet Union, and Winston Churchill for his good work with Adolph Hitler! 

For the record, Mikhail Gorbachev won for helping to end the Cold War, but Ronald Reagan had nothing to do with it.

No study of history can be made to reveal weakness a precursor to peace, and yet, strength, the only arbiter of real and lasting peace is lambasted by the world society. 

Rarely does peace flow from negotiated agreements, unless those agreements are backed by armies and by bombs and by a vanquished party.

It’s very nice that effort is all that is required to win a Nobel Prize, but after all that effort is used up and there are still people out there who want to kill you, it might be nice to have a little superior fire power at your disposal to insure enemies do not become so emboldened as to believe they could remove you from the face of the earth.

Israel has nuclear bombs, and Benjamin Netanyahu never won a Nobel Prize.
