Democrat Rep. Carolyn McCarthy of New York – District 4 has been a thorn in the side of America’s gun owners since 1997, when she was elected to the U.S. Congress in Western Nassau County.

She was propelled to public office after her husband Dennis was killed in a tragic shooting on the Long Island Railroad in 1993. Under the faulty logic that excessive gun control laws hinders violent crime, McCarthy has introduced and supported every single gun control law known to man for seven consecutive terms.

This November the three million voters in New York’s Congressional District 4 have an opportunity to defeat a politician that has snubbed her nose at the United States Constitution, and has voted with the radical Obama/Reid/Pelosi agenda 97 percent of the time.

Supporting Nassau County Legislator Francis X. Becker Jr., is a first step in returning our great Nation to the principles founded in our Constitutional Republic; principles that for decades have been shoved under the rug by politicians who, due to selfish motives, operate in direct opposition. McCarthy is a perfect example.

Garnishing 46 percent of the vote just two years ago in 2010, Becker said, “We have a real chance to recapture this congressional seat.”

Sending millions of flyers, using robo calls and reaching out directly to the voters is how the Becker campaign will do it.  But, he needs our help. Unfortunately, Washington D.C. Republicans oftentimes neglect to pay attention to the races happening in blue state New York, and without their support, politicians like multi millionaire McCarthy keep their power; and keep chipping away at our Second Amendment rights.

McCarthy is one of the most vocal anti Second Amendment politicians in the Nation. For gun rights activists, electing her to the U.S. Congress for an eighth consecutive term is tantamount to shooting ourselves in the foot.  There is absolutely no substance to her standpoints. She claims gun control laws will end violent crimes, when we all know, that is simply not true. She blames gun sellers, law abiding gun owners, and so called lax laws for criminal behavior.

McCarthy has introduced legislation or has supported the following measures: a ban on the sale of guns to tourists visiting the U.S.; a ban on importation of firearms; a bill requiring all firearms to be child-resistant; regulate gun shows; make it difficult for young adults to purchase guns; introduced the 2007  “Assault Weapons” ban; ban semiautomatic rifles, shot guns and handguns that resemble military weapons; ban high capacity magazines;  ban on-line ammunition sales; supports more stringent background checks; says “a firearm shall not be determined to be particularly suitable for sporting purposes solely because the firearm is suitable for use in a sporting event”; and ultimately seeks to invoke any legislation that will control us.

Of course McCarthy never addresses individual rights, the Constitution or the Second Amendment, while supporting all these laws, even though she took an oath to do so, her only interest is gun control. Knowing little about the mechanics of firearms, she cannot even get her facts straight.

While being questioned on MSNBC regarding a 2007 gun ban piece of legislation, she could not identify one of the instruments being banned in the bill, a “barrel shroud.”

A barrel shroud is a covering attached to the barrel of a firearm, that partially or completely encircles the barrel preventing operators from injuring themselves with a hot barrel. Even though a barrel shrowd is used as a protective measure, that inconvenient fact doesn’t matter to McCarthy; ban, ban and more bans is her motto.

She also misidentifies the phrase “assault weapons”; a definition that encompasses any instrument used during an assault, it could be a knife, a motor vehicle, or a baseball bat. McCarthy has spent way too much time in the U.S. Congress defending anti Second Amendment forces, outright gun bans, and continuous harassment of America’s gun owners and sellers.

Republican Becker on the other hand is a well-liked, nine-term Nassau County Legislator who has devoted his entire adult life to public service.  A devotion Fran said he “enjoys” because it gives him a “sense of purpose.”

“I am a person of faith,” Becker said. “There is an effort to remove God from the public square even though the First Amendment is clear that nothing should get in the way of the practice of one’s religion. People generally believe that our rights should not be regulated, and since Obama has been elected to office, the voters are recognizing that government is seeping into every dimension of our lives.”

Becker is President of Becker & Associates Planning Services, and in that capacity, has the expertise to encourage financial stability at the federal level, Becker said, Because of over spending and over regulation by the Obama Administration, our economy is in shambles.”

The Long Islander said the problems are more serious than people apprecitate.

“The financial markets sink and unemployment continues to rise,” he said.

“As a small business owner and Certified Financial Planner, I meet with clients everyday to help them map their futures and share with them the disciplines necessary to create a successful financial plan,” he said.

“I will bring these skills to Washington with a vision for the future and the understanding on how to create jobs and restore the American Dream,” he said.

On the Second Amendment, Becker said he is a true defender.

“The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.  These words from the Second Amendment are among the most important in our Bill of Rights as the Second Amendment is the right that protects all the others,” he said.

“We must remember that violence is about the people committing the crime not the guns themselves,” he said.
