The Left in this country is taking an interesting tactic in this election cycle. Rather than telling us why they’ll be better for the country than the Republican Party, Leftists are warning of just how awful things will be if they’re not elected.
It may sound familiar. In fact, it can be argued this is their normal tactic. However, things are different this time.
You see, when you have celebrities warning that if you don’t vote for their preferred candidate, there will be massive violence, things have gone in an…interesting direction. That’s exactly where we are.
Character actor James Cromwell was honored at the fourth annual Carney Awards, where he used his platform to call for change in the United States and warn of violence if President Trump and his allies remain in office.
Cromwell, a noted character actor known for roles in projects such as “Babe,” “The Green Mile,” “Big Hero 6,” “Boardwalk Empire” and “American Horror Story,” is also a political activist who has worked with organizations such as the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. He’s frequently been arrested for his role in planned, peaceful protests at places like SeaWorld and a natural gas power plant in New York.
Speaking to Variety at the event, he warned of the turn that he sees America taking and cautioned there will be “blood in the streets” if Republicans remain in control.
“This is nascent fascism. We always had a turnkey, totalitarian state — all we needed was an excuse, and all the institutions were in place to turn this into pure fascism,” Cromwell said. “If we don’t stop [President Trump] now, then we will have a revolution for real. Then there will be blood in the streets.”
“It’s a nice country you have here. It would be a shame if anything happened to it.”
Cromwell’s “warning” isn’t anything new. We already know there will probably be blood in the streets. It’ll be caused by Democrats who can’t seem to handle the fact that there are people in this country with the temerity to *GASP* disagree with them.
It’s only been a minor miracle that we haven’t already had that. It damn sure hasn’t been for lack of trying.
But the problem with Cromwell’s prediction is that it places blame for any violence on those who didn’t vote for Democrats. It’s the abusive spouse yelling, “Look what you made me do!” It’s a mobster warning that you either do what the don wants you to do or your business goes up in flames, then saying it’s all your fault.
Of course, Cromwell also seems to think we have “always had a turnkey, totalitarian state.” Maybe if he and his friends weren’t so obsessed with destroying actual, honest to God freedom, such a state wouldn’t exist, but we haven’t always had that. The Constitution is ideally formed to prevent just that. It’s only too bad that people like Cromwell have done everything they can to make the document irrelevant in this day and age.
But, then again, what else do you expect from someone who plays pretend for a living?
