Keith Olbermann: NRA Is A Terrorist Organization

Keith Olbermann may have made his name as a sportscaster, but he’s spent the last decade or so pontificating on politics. Rather than rail on how bad certain baseball teams are this year, he goes on about how evil Republicans or whatever right-leaning group he’s chosen to vilify are. His latest bit, however, shows he’s going off the deep end.

Even by Olbermann’s standards.

Keith Olbermann, for example, slammed the nation’s gun lobby in a clip for GQ’s “The Resistance.” The progressive pundit claimed that the Second Amendment has been misinterpreted in recent years and is the reason why the NRA “is not branded for what it is — a terrorist organization.”

According to Olbermann, the 2A was drafted by our founders and framers “to keep the federal government from taking away the right of each state to maintain its own militia.”

In other words, it’s not an individual right unconnected to militia service as the Supreme Court ruled in the landmark 2008 Heller decision.

Olbermann went on to say that our right to keep and bear arms has been transmogrified “into an excuse for why madmen of whatever heritage or political purpose cannot be stopped from carrying at least 10 long rifles into a hotel room in Las Vegas and setting up a sniper’s nest and killing people.”

So, let’s get this straight. Antifa, a loose organization but an organization none the less, who we know for a fact will initiate violence in order to create the political change they want to see is fine, but the National Rifle Association that has been linked to no crimes whatsoever is a terrorist organization?

Suuuuuuuuuure.

To make matters worse, even if Olbermann doesn’t understand how they’re not, someone on his staff does. They understand that for an attack to be a terrorist attack, one needs an ideological motive. Further, for any organization to be a terrorist organization, they have to be linked to…oh, I don’t know…terrorism?

Thus far, there have been zero NRA members known to be involved in any terrorist activity. None.

So please, Keith, do explain how the NRA is a terrorist organization when they have absolutely no ties to terrorists? Please detail how this is so, because I love a good mental gymnastics exhibition, and that’s the only way to justify that comment.

We won’t even get into his nonsense about how the Second Amendment protects the states’ right to keep guns…even though the text plainly says “people’s” and the word “states” is explicit elsewhere in the Bill of Rights. After all, we don’t need to. Anyone with half a brain can see that.

However, Olbermann isn’t alone in the idiocy that the NRA is somehow a terrorist organization. They’ve blamed the organization for the attack before we knew anything at all about the shooter, simply because he had a gun. Others have also claimed the NRA is a terrorist organization, all because they stand for a civil right that leftists hate.

No amount of screeching will change the fact that their comments betray not only their bias but their stupidity. After all, until you can find terrorists within the organization, you’ve got nothing. Even if you find a link between a terrorist and the group, such as being a member, without the NRA giving support for that action, you still have nothing.

Any claims to the contrary are nothing more than political grandstanding on the corpses of those slain in Las Vegas.
