Officer Gets Salty With Perp Who Shot Him In Court

Having never been shot, I can’t do anything but imagine what it’s like. As a general thing, I don’t put myself in a position to get shot. Many who do are criminal scumbags who are trying to hurt others in the first place, but another group also puts themselves in harm’s way on a regular basis, and those are police officers.

An undercover officer in Florida was allegedly shot a few years ago by a suspect. The wounds were apparently fairly serious, but the officer survived. Now, the accused shooter is in court, and the officer had a gift for the defendant. You know, to show there were no hard feelings and all that.

A young Jacksonville man who ambushed and shot a Jacksonville police officer multiple times during a traffic stop in 2016 was sentenced to life behind bars Wednesday.

Kevin Rojas was smug in court when the officer called Rojas a coward and said he would have a tough time in prison. The officer then took out a tube of K-Y Jelly, a personal lubricant, and said: “You are going to need a lot of this.”

Well, what else can we add except…

The officer simply replied “no comment” to questions from the media, but honestly, what more did he need to say? His gift really said it all.

Yes, it’s a taunt. Yes, it’s probably not the most professional thing he could have done, but you know what? Who cares?

Especially when you consider the incident where the officer was shot also put his son in danger.

Kevin Rojas shot the unidentified police officer, who is also an Army veteran, three times, including one time in the face, during a traffic stop in 2016. The officer was taking his son to school when he noticed the driver of a white Cadillac driving recklessly on the streets.

During the stop, Rojas fired at the officer and hit him through the windshield. The officer’s son was uninjured.

According to the Times-Union, Rojas stole a truck and barricaded himself inside his home after crashing his vehicle into his neighbor’s home. Rojas was then shot by police officers after he pointed a gun at them through a sliding glass door.

Yeah…as a father, Rojas would be lucky if all he got was a tube of K-Y. If my kid had been hurt in any way? Oh, hell no.

Rojas was given life in prison for his crimes, which is a good start. Now he just needs to stay in there.

Many people deride the police for having an “us versus them” mentality, but I get where that comes from. Police officers put their lives on the line every day – remember this wasn’t a drug raid or anything, but a traffic stop the likes of which most officers engage in from time to time – and they live under a microscope.

Undoubtedly, someone will get all bent out of shape about this officer’s gift, but I just can’t seem to get worked up about it. If Rojas doesn’t like it, well…he probably shouldn’t have shot the officer in the first place.
