Another Anti-Gun Politician Found To Be Corrupt Dirtbag

It’s funny. Anti-gunners are always convinced that any pro-gun politician has been completely and totally bought off by the National Rifle Association. Ask them and they’ll tell you as much.

A few are more realistic and understand that, at most, the NRA is contributing to reelection campaigns and such, but some actually do think there are illegal money transfers taking place.

However, what’s really funny is how every time we find out that a politician is a corrupt piece of filth, they’re an anti-gunner.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced that Dallas City Council Member and Mayor Pro Tem Dwaine Caraway pleaded guilty to conspiracy and tax evasion charges involving $450,000 in bribe and kickback payments stemming from securing a city school bus stop-arm camera contract for a Louisiana company. The Dallas Morning News later reported that Caraway resigned his public position in the aftermath of the revelations.

“I have dedicated much of my life to serving others, but have never claimed to be without sin,” Caraway wrote in his resignation letter. “I am truly sorry that I must end my career as an elected official because I betrayed the public’s trust that I worked so very hard to earn.”

In February, the lawmaker, a Democrat who long represented the city’s 4th District, mounted a campaign against the NRA’s planned 147th Annual Meeting, which was set to come to the publicly-owned Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. Caraway pointed to the recent school shooting in Parkland, Florida in his call to both move the event and regulate semi-automatic firearms in Dallas.

Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy, let me tell you.

Caraway’s argument of how he “never claimed to be without sin” would be fine if he’d gotten caught in an affair with someone other than his wife, or was found to have a drinking problem or something like that. I could look at that and think, “Not any of my business.”

But no. He took a bribe. Someone offered him money to make a contract happen, and he took it. To the tune of almost a half-million dollars.

That’s not some minor sin, but major corruption. I can’t help but think that the real reason he didn’t want the NRA in Dallas was because they weren’t going to pay him a pile of money for his blessing.

Like Leland Yee, Caraway hid behind the anti-gun exterior as if that were some kind of armor, protecting him from any real criticism for his actions when in reality, he was everything he accused others of being.

This is called “projection” and we see it a lot with anti-gunners. Why else do they claim that every gun owner is about to shoot up the place only to talk about attacking people and taking their guns for no sin but carrying one? More and more, I’m becoming convinced that anti-gun politicians don’t actually take their position on moral grounds, but on self-preservation. They figure that someone might get mad at corrupt scum and they want to disarm them preemptively if possible.

Regardless, Caraway is a complete dirtbag and now won’t be a bother to the people of Dallas anymore. He’ll also find his future quite happy. After all, if you want a no-gun environment, prison is about as good as it gets.
