Moms Demand Action is one of those groups that most of us see quoted, and we roll our eyes. We know what it’s going to say even before we read or hear it. It spouts the same tired mantra as every other gun control group out there.
However, it lies about what it means and what it stands for all the time. I suspect some members even lie to themselves about it.
Nearly 100 Shelby County members with Moms Demand Action For Gun Sense In America are leaving for Nashville Wednesday morning to fight several possible new laws.
Members of Moms Demand Action say they want everybody to know that they are not an anti-gun group. They’re an anti-gun violence group. They don’t want weapons to end up in the wrong hands. And they want those who break the law to face justice.
“I want responsible gun owners in Tennessee to have the training that I think my children deserve before we go into public spaces,” says Kat McRitchie. “We want to find common ground solutions that all Americans can support in order to ensure public safety. Our gun violence rate is at an epidemic in this country. Americans are 25 times more likely than citizens in other countries to die as a result of gun violence, and that’s not okay with me.”
McRitchie is passionate about gun violence protection. That’s why she’s one of nearly 500 members with the Tennessee chapter of Moms Demand Action For Gun Sense In America.
If Moms Demand Action was really about gun violence and not gun control, then how come we never hear anything other than gun control? How come every measure it supports is a law that will impact law-abiding gun owners, rather than the criminals who make our streets unsafe?
Not once have we heard anything supporting anti-gang laws or increased support for law enforcement. Not once has it advocated for hardening schools or increased sentencing for violent offenders. Not once has it called for more vigorous prosecution of domestic abusers.
Moms Demand Action has done nothing except call for more gun control.
While it continues to claim that it’s not an anti-gun group, it’s lying. That’s all it is, an out-and-out lie that it’s peddling to a non-critical media who lap it up.
This is a group that has never supported any measure I can recall that wasn’t a gun control regulation. Not one.
I’m sorry, but that’s the epitome of being an anti-gun group.
Now, the question is whether or not their members believe it. On some level, they have to. Just the fact that Moms Demand Action continues to push nothing other than gun control has to trigger some part of their brains (assuming they exist) that notices the falsehood. They just keep going, though, lying to themselves.
While I oppose all gun control laws, I’d at least accept their claims about being anti-gun violence if there was something to their efforts that was armed at actual violence.
However, it’s not, though. There’s nothing there.
Which is how I know the whole damn organization is made up of nothing but fools and liars. The question is, who is which.
