Gun Grabbers Blame Federal Gun Laws For Gilroy

When our Founding Fathers crafted the Constitution, one of their ideas was that the federal government would remain fairly weak, that the states would govern as they saw fit and that good laws at the state level would filter to other states as needed. The Constitution would remain to make sure those individual states didn’t become tyrannical, but otherwise would take something of a hands-off approach to governing.

Well, our federal government isn’t particularly weak anymore, of course, but the concept holds true even today. It’s why one state passing a law can often lead to other states doing the same.

Yet other states that feel different solutions are needed look elsewhere for those solutions. It’s the strength of the American system.

However, following Gilroy, it’s being blamed for the actions of one maniac.

California has some of the most stringent gun laws in the country, including a ban on the type of rifle that a shooter used to kill three and wound 15 at the garlic food festival in Gilroy on Sunday.

But the gunman had legally purchased the “assault-type rifle”, in the style of an AK-47, from the neighboring state Nevada on 9 July before carrying it illegally over state lines into California, highlighting what some gun control advocates say is a loophole in the way laws operate, state by state.

That’s not the only example of it either.

Newsweek jumped on the bandwagon as well, though they made sure to quote someone else saying it so they could pretend they’re unbiased news.

“Lots of Pro-Gun folks tweeting,” one account called Enough is Enough stated.

“My reply has been: Thankfully for California’s strict gun laws, it has one of the lowest rates of gun deaths in the nation. Why? Gun laws work!”

Yeah, they work so well that three people are dead.

Not one of these oh-so-caring people who are only thinking of the children here has ever espoused one single thing that might just fix whatever the hell is going on that doesn’t infringe on our right to keep and bear arms. They’re nothing more than screeching boxes prattling on about gun control. They haven’t bothered to look at a single fix.

The truth of the matter is that mass shootings have been a part of the American landscape for years, but only surged in the last decade or so. The lack of gun laws that anti-gunners claim lead to this sort of thing was the case long before then, yet mass shootings were rare things. To be fair, they’re still fairly rare, all things considered, but they’re also more common than they used to be.

Why is that?

That’s the question anti-gunners refuse to ask. They don’t want to ask because the answers might not be what they want to hear.

It should also be noted that during the same time when mass shootings were rising, violent crime overall was in decline. This is also during a time of relatively few federal gun laws being in place.

While anti-gunners are busy blaming every other state but California for what took place in Gilroy, it’s also high time that some of them sit down, shut up, and start helping us look at other potential causes. We’re not budging on gun rights because rights are not now, nor ever, up for discussion. However, there may be other factors we can look at, come to some kind of agreement on, and make this better for everyone.
