Anti-gun Democrats want nothing more than total control. They want to have authority over every state legislature, Congress, the White House, and the Supreme Court. They want all that control because then there would be nothing stopping them from completely destroying the Second Amendment as we know it.
Sounds a bit melodramatic, doesn’t it?
Honestly, even writing that I couldn’t help but feel a little like I needed to grab some tin foil. This despite the fact that yes, they actually do want that. Both parties want to gain and maintain control in an effort to move laws they approve of through the legislative process and to make sure they’re safe from judicial reversal.
Yet usually, they don’t actually admit that’s what they want.
Former Gov. Terry McAuliffe whipped up fellow Democrats at a recent fundraiser by outlining what’s at stake in next month’s state election: Control of the General Assembly and the power to enact a long list of Democratic priorities such as gun control, the Equal Rights Amendment and raising the minimum wage.
“Do not rest! Do not sleep!” McAuliffe exhorted. “Stop everybody you see – if they don’t stop, tackle ’em! Explain to them why this is so important…We are going to make Virginia a new state.”
The next day, the Republican Party of Virginia quoted McAuliffe’s words with a different spin: “It should send shivers down your spine,” party chairman Jack Wilson wrote in a fundraising email that also invoked national Democratic donors. “This should be a grave warning to patriots like yourself. If the Soros-Bloomberg Democrats win the General Assembly this November – YOU WON’T RECOGNIZE VIRGINIA ANYMORE.”
Now, make no mistake, one of those key issues driving this is gun control.
Virginia Governor Ralph Northam sought to distance himself from allegations that he wore blackface in college by using the Virginia Beach shooting and his push for gun control. His attempt to call a special legislative session was thwarted when Republicans promptly adjourned the session not even two hours after it was called to order.
This is one of the key issues that is driving this push, and yeah, if Democrats get control of Virginia, it will be unrecognizable.
Now, bear in mind that there are pro-gun Democrats out there. They do exist. Some are vehemently pro-gun. However, they’re a tiny fraction of a percent of Democrats based on what I’ve seen lately. There’s absolutely no way there are enough of them to drive the Democrats in Virginia to even the middle on guns. There just aren’t.
Which means that this “new state” McAuliffe is talking about is a state that will likely resemble New York, California, Massachusetts, or New Jersey when it comes to guns and gun rights.
That’s a huge problem for many who live in the Old Dominion State, as it should be.
What that means is that it’s imperative for pro-gun voices to rise up and act now before it’s too late. If the election is next month, there’s still time to rally the troops, so to speak, and make a difference. Hold onto the state or else Virginia will become just another anti-gun hellhole.
