AOC Backs Beto O'Rourke's Gun Grab, Calls It 'Taking A Stand'

From the moment she took office, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been in the limelight. A far left radical, it’s not surprising to see that she’s anti-gun. It’s a key point for Democrats lately and while there are some pro-gun Democrats, someone as far left as AOC isn’t likely to be one of them. Especially as a New York socialist.

In truth, she’s been getting a lot of the attention one would think Beto O’Rourke, a presidential candidate who put a scare into Sen. Ted Cruz, would like to get.

Luckily for him, AOC does at least back one of this proposals.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) went after presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg on Monday after the South Bend mayor criticized his Democratic rivals over their small donor fundraising strategy and demand for federally-mandated gun confiscation.

“Small-dollar grassroots campaigns, aka what Buttigieg insults here as ‘pocket change,’ out-fundraises him by millions,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “Our nation’s leaders should not be working to end the era of big money politics, not protect it.”

“[And] Beto’s gun policy isn’t ‘picking a fight,’ it’s taking a stand,” she added.

Ocasio-Cortez’s comments come as O’Rourke has been facing widespread backlash from both sides of the aisle for demanding that the government seize millions of firearms from law-abiding American citizens.

Of course, that’s not really going to be an issue for someone like Ocasio-Cortez, now is it.

While she talks a big game about people’s rights, those only matter when they’re people who crossed the border illegally, then got caught. Especially when their “rights” aren’t really at any risk, they just don’t get to live in cushy apartments with a free run of the country.

The fact of the matter is that O’Rourke’s comments aren’t “taking a stand,” they’re a call to war. Millions of Americans have already been quite clear that an effort to go after our AR-15s would be tantamount to declaring war on the American people. If you take away our ability to fight back against a tyrannical government, you become that very tyrannical government.

Not that I expect AOC to understand that. Frankly, I don’t expect her to understand much. Yet the pro-gun community has been quite clear on this topic. The fact that Ocasio-Cortez and O’Rourke have either ignored that fact or chosen to disbelieve our words isn’t brave, it’s ridiculous.

The fact of the matter is that Buttigieg is right. This is little more than a tactic for O’Rourke to remain relevant in a campaign that is slipping away from him by the second.

Either that or he’s trying to burn the Democratic Party to the ground on his way out of his political career. I will not rule that one out based on his recent positions.

The fact that AOC stands with him on this, as well as how little pushback O’Rourke has gotten from his fellow Democrats, illustrates just what they think of your Second Amendment rights.

Further, look at the pushback Buttigieg has given. While he’s been O’Rourke’s most vocal critic on this, his criticisms revolve around the poor timing of something like this and not on the position itself. The truth of the matter is that while there are some pro-gun Democrats out there, what we don’t see is a Democratic Party that values your Second Amendment rights or ever will.
