Feds Find Guns In Home Of Reputed Drug Dealer

Staten Island is one of the five boroughs that make up New York City. As such, they fall under the most draconian set of gun control laws in the entire nation.

It’s also where police executed a search warrant on the home of an accused drug dealer.

There, they found a pile of guns.

Federal agents seized an arsenal of shotguns and handguns Thursday when they executed a search warrant at the home of a reputed Staten Island drug dealer, law enforcement sources and police said.

The Drug Enforcement Administration’s Tactical Diversion Squad conducted the search of the two-story New Dorp Beach home on Finley Avenue near Ebbitts Street at around 8 a.m., sources said.

About 20 shotguns and at least four handguns were recovered during the search, sources said.

Drugs were also discovered during the search, cops said.

Photographs from the raid also show a couple of lever-action rifles, so who knows what else was there that the journalists just didn’t comprehend.

However, let’s take a look at this. New York City has some very tough gun laws which apparently failed to stop this individual from getting guns in the first place. Whether he went through the legal process to obtain the guns in question or whether they were purchased on the black market is still unclear.

Not that it really matters.

However, let’s take a look at either way for a moment.

First, if they’re black market guns, the gun laws in NYC did jack to actually prevent this man from getting firearms. Some will try to blame other states without New York’s gun control rules, but I’d point out that drugs were also found. I’m pretty sure those didn’t come from Georgia or Texas.

If they were lawfully purchased, then just how good are laws that allow someone who is reportedly part of the drug trade to purchase guns?

As you can see, there not likely to be any good answer from the gun control crowd on this one. Instead, they’ll just pretend it never happened and continue acting like the measures they’re proposing will actually work. They’ll ignore failures like this and argue that gun control will stop bad people from doing bad things despite all the ample evidence to the contrary.

Yet drug dealers get guns with impunity, much like they do with their guns. Criminals get them the easiest way they can, but they will get them no matter how many roadblocks you throw in the way.

Meanwhile, how many law-abiding New Yorkers are unable to carry a firearm to defend themselves with because of those same laws? How many good, decent people have fallen prey to criminals because the law essentially empowered crooks by preventing these good, decent people from having a way to effectively defend themselves?

Criminals will always get guns. Good guys will continue to follow the law, at least up until it goes too far.

If only the anti-gun side would listen for just five minutes and understand that you’ll never end “gun crime” without ending “crime.” Go after the noun, not the adjective, for crying out loud, and then it won’t matter who has what kind of guns.
