Four years ago, Democrats were outraged that the Senate opted not to vote on President Obama’s Supreme Court nomination. This time around, things are different and the Senate has signaled they won’t do the same thing this time around. Whether you agree with that move or not is kind of irrelevant.

I bet Harry Reid is kind of regretting going with the nuclear option now, huh?

Anyway, President Trump is expected to name his nominee by Friday. In Georgia, though, one gun control group figured, “Why wait? Let’s go ahead and protest now.”

Yes, seriously.

The Georgia chapter of a national gun control activist organization will hold a protest Sept. 23 outside the Buckhead office of U.S. Sen. David Perdue against the controversial move to replace U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Dubbed “Our Courts, Our Voice: Let the People Decide,” the protest by March for Our Lives is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Terminus 100 tower at 3280 Peachtree Road at Piedmont Road. The protest’s message is “to tell him to halt the SCOTUS nomination process,” according to a social media notice.

March for Our Lives did not respond to a comment request.

Perdue has said he supports the nomination process.

However, it’s kind of hard to take March for Our Lives seriously at the best of times, but right now it’s even funnier. See, four years ago, these were the same people screaming bloody murder that the Senate had an obligation to vote on Obama’s nominee, even though it was a known fact he was heading out of office. Remember, that was his second term. There was no third term and we all knew he wouldn’t be back.

Regardless of the outcome of the election, there would be a new president.

This time, though, Trump is running for reelection. While the polls haven’t been kind to the president, that’s nothing new. As a result, Senate Republicans have reason to believe the president would be returning to office come January.

Or, conversely, Republicans could always just claim they realized their Democratic colleagues were right and are just following through. I don’t think they’d believe if they said it, but the meltdowns would be hilarious.

Regardless, March for Our Lives isn’t going to accomplish anything except highlight the left’s outright hypocrisy. As noted above, it’s a little different this time around for Republicans, but that difference merely makes the Democrats screeching all the more hypocritical. Now, March for Our Lives wants to be a shining neon sign for that hypocrisy.

What it definitely will not do is convinced Sen. Perdue to do anything except support the nominee, whoever that may be.

It just goes to show, though, that the anti-gunners are terrified that any candidate Trump nominates will have long-lasting repercussions for topics like gun rights for generations upon generations to come. They’re scared and they don’t know how to not show it. In fairness, if I were them, I’d be scared right about now myself.

Instead, I’m mostly eager to see how this shakes out.
