Ibram X. Kendi isn’t exactly a fan of anything anyone who isn’t a rabid progressive might support. He’s made his name and his career off of leveraging racial guilt among white liberals into a profitable enterprise. He also makes a pretty good living off of declaring everything he doesn’t like “racist.”

So it shouldn’t really surprise us that he’s not a fan of gun rights and we know what he thinks of things he dislikes.

Now he’s explicitly likened gun rights supporters to those who supported slavery.

Do you support the Second Amendment freedom to keep and bear arms? If so, you are akin to people who fought for the right to own slaves! That is, if you believe Ibram X. Kendi, a CBS News “Racial Justice Contributor,” and anti-racism maven.

Appearing on Sunday’s Face the Nation on the occasion of Juneteenth, host Margaret Brennan asked the radical Kendi how he would explain the meaning of the holiday to his six-year-old daughter. Replied Kendi:

“I’m actually going to teach her that . . . throughout this nation’s history,there’s been two perspectives on freedom, really two fights for freedom. Enslaved people were fighting for freedom from slavery, and enslavers were fighting for the freedom to enslave. 

And in many ways that sort of contrast still exists today. There are people who are fighting for freedom from assault rifles, freedom from poverty, freedom from exploitation. And there are others who are fighting for freedom to exploit, freedom to have guns, freedom to maintain inequality.”

Brennan didn’t push back on Kendi’s implication that there is no “freedom to have guns,” and his invidious suggestion that people who disagree are no better than slavers. To the contrary, Brennan said his allegations go to the core of his anti-racist theory. And she was quick to inform her audience that Kendi does not teach Critical Race Theory.

Honestly, I don’t give a damn about Critical Race Theory right at this moment. What I do care about is this idea that gun rights aren’t human rights just as vital as basic as human freedom from slavery.

I’d remind Kendi that many of the earliest gun control laws in this country were explicitly passed to disarm free black men and women, making them second-class citizens, all so white racists wouldn’t be the least bit inconvenienced when they tried to terrorize those black households.

It was the gun that was the equalizer, that allowed free black men and women to stand up to the mobs that would burn them out of house and home for no reason other than the color of their skin.

Further, I can’t help but wonder what Kendi would say about the black gun groups who held marches to celebrate Juneteenth.

Frankly, I think I know what he’d say, and it wouldn’t be polite to those gun rights groups.

The truth is that for all his talk of anti-racism, Kendi is nothing but a partisan hack grifter cashing in on the guilt of white liberals and telling them what they ultimately want to hear about the rest of their politics, but providing just enough discomfort they can feel like they’re “growing.”

It’s just a good thing no one else takes him seriously.
