Biden Invokes Iowa to Call for Unrelated Gun Control

We get it.

President Joe Biden wants gun control. In particular, he wants an assault weapon ban. The last one did absolutely nothing, so of course, we need to do it all over again and he’s made it his mission to cram such a ban down our collective throats.

In fact, he wants it so badly that he has a bad habit of calling for such a ban after every mass shooting, generally before we even know what kind of weapon was used.

The shooting at Perry High School in Iowa, though, is a case where we know the weapons used–a pump-action shotgun and a handgun–so one would figure that Biden would save that bit of gun control rhetoric for the next time around.

One would be wrong.

While giving a speech Monday at Mother Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina, President Biden referenced Thursday’s shooting at Iowa’s Perry High School then pushed gun control that would not have prevented the shooting from taking place.

On Monday, Biden spoke about the Iowa shooting then pushed an “assault weapons” ban, which would include a “high capacity” magazine ban, and universal background checks.

A pump shotgun is not prohibited under an “assault weapons” ban, nor would a small caliber handgun be prohibited. Also, 17-years of age is too young to buy a gun, so background checks — whether at retail, private, or both — would not come into play.

So it’s not just an assault weapon ban he’s pushing that wouldn’t have prevented the shooting, but literally everything he brought up.

Shocking, I know.

What’s funny is that this is Joe Biden we’re talking about here. This is the guy who literally told America to get a shotgun for self-defense, that you didn’t need an “assault weapon.”

Well, this shooting makes it clear that something like this can happen regardless of the firearms available. You wouldn’t get that from Biden’s comments, though.

Instead, he wants gun control that he’s always wanted, despite it having absolutely nothing at all to do with the situation he’s trying to capitalize on.

No, the killer didn’t get his guns from a gun store nor did he lawfully buy them from a friend or someone else, so universal background checks are irrelevant. He used a pump-action shotgun, so “high capacity” magazines aren’t applicable, either.

And, of course, we have Biden’s gun control mantra of “assault weapon ban.”

It’s like he can’t talk about guns without uttering that same bit of nonsense.

My question is, how does anyone fall for this? How do they buy into the idea that we need all this gun control because of an incident like this when it’s plain as day that none of these laws would have prevented this incident?

People fall for it all the time, so I’m left scratching my head and wondering how people who can put on their own shoes can be so stupid as to listen to this nonsense.

The short answer seems to be that they don’t actually care about whether or not it applies. They’re more than willing to use any incident as a pretext.

Just like Biden.
