Up to 20 people have been killed and more than 40 have been taken to area hospitals after a domestic terrorist attack on a gay nightclub called The Pulse in Orlando, Florida.
The attack began at approximately 2:20 AM, where an individual opened fire on club-goers, apparently both inside and outside the club. An officer on the scene providing security for the club engaged the terrorist. As other law enforcement officers responded, the terrorist retreated back inside the club and took hostages.
SWAT units raided the club approximately three hours later, where nine officers engaged and killer the terrorist.
A rifle, handgun and “a device” were found on the terrorist’s body.
We’ll update when we know more.

Update: Our colleagues at Twitchy are on the story as well.
Update: The terrorist has been identified as a 30-year-old American male citizen from Port St. Lucie, Florida. In keeping with our policy of refusing to name mass or spree killers, we will not name him. We will note that authorities think that the shooters has radical Islamist ties.
