Mrs. Murphy's Faceplant: Governor's Wife Drops Out of NJ Senate Race

When disgraced Senator Bob Menendez ran into hot water again, I thought it was odd how quickly the progressives turned on him. Afterall, Menendez survived allegations of soliciting for underaged prostitution, so seeing the left turn on him over a few gold bars was strange to me. Governor Phil Murphy, D-N.J., was geared up to appoint his wife as New Jersey’s new Senator if Menendez resigned. At least that was the word on the street. When Menendez showed no signs of stepping down, the Murphys thought they’d buy their way into the Upper House, as easily as Phil bought his spot at Drumthwacket. Quietly, over the weekend, Tammy Murphy dropped out of the Senate race.

Governor Phil Murphy might be going down in history as the most anti-gun, anti-civil liberty, governor New Jersey has ever seen. His progressive policies are lock-step with the anti-civil liberty cabal he comes from. The carpetbagger from Massachusetts was formerly President Obama's Ambassador to Germany. Murphy took New Jersey hostage by sweeping in with big bucks, stealing the Democratic nomination for governor from the heir apparent at that time, former State Senator Steve Sweeney.

Phil Murphy bought his way into New Jersey politics and the strategy that worked so well for him, did not work out for Tammy. A poll earlier this month shed light on how badly things were going for Tammy Murphy.

About 8 in 10 New Jersey voters have heard of Murphy and just under 2 in 3 have heard of Kim. Kim receives a net positive 28% favorable and 10% favorable and Murphy gets a net negative 14% favorable and 26% unfavorable rating.

Andy Kim, a current U.S. Congressman from the Garden State, first stepped into office in 2019. In 2018 Kim unseated GOP incumbent Tom MacArthur, who served two terms in the House, ending 8 years of conservative control of the Congressional District.

Kim having popularity over Murphy is actually a bit scary. Kim’s policies aren’t exactly on par with what I want to see implemented in the country.

Regardless of all that, the Democrats in New Jersey really did speak loud and clear. Murphy couldn’t buy her way into the office, nor were New Jersians willing to have this seat force fed to them.

Tammy Murphy had all the advantages in the world, up to and including hubby using his office to try and leverage the fairer – and more straight toothed – of the Murphys some popularity. Over the last half year or so, Governor Murphy pumped Tammy’s name out more and more in press releases and was working on that name recognition she “earned.”

Tammy was clearly falling flat on her face. However, what reasons did she give for laying down the scepter and all but handing the Democratic nomination to Kim? Tammy posted a video on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, with her lamentations.

It is clear to me that continuing in this race will involve waging a very divisive and negative campaign, which I am not willing to do. And with Donald Trump on the ballot, and so much at stake for our nation, I will not in good conscience, waste resources tearing down a fellow Democrat.

Instead of talking about process and politics, my campaign has been about solutions for families and a vision for the next generation. New Jersey's next senator must focus on the issues of our time, and not be mired in tearing others down while dividing the people of our party and state.

I'm making this decision because this campaign has never been about me. And right now, I know the best thing we can do for New Jersey is to unite and focus on the real issues at hand.

Right now our kids are growing up in a world where fire drills are being replaced by active shooter drills. A world where little girls have less rights than their mothers. And climate change threatens all of us.

That's what's at stake in this election. And as we face grave dangerous threats on the national level, thanks to Donald Trump, and far right extremists, it's time to unify not divide. I will now focus entirely on reelecting President Biden, and ensuring democratic victories up and down the ballot all across New Jersey.

I look forward to partnering with you to ensure our communities are affordable, our rights and freedoms protected and our futures safe and secure.

A decisive campaign? Murphy did not want to fight dirty and tear down Kim? Donald Trump? Really? We’re bringing Donald Trump up? Murphy would have come out the other end of the race beyond disgraced if she tried to trash talk Kim.

What a croc of succotash. Especially that last part about partnering for affordable communities and protecting rights and freedoms – like what? Like the way hubby Phil Murphy protects rights and freedoms? The way he made things more affordable? Need we remind you about that wicked expensive door he just had to get you for your First Lady’s office door? My gawd. Her debut campaign video was nothing but an attack on our rights and freedoms, and now she has the gall to say she wants to protect them?

Tammy Murphy had to step away from this race simply because she was not popular. Period. And, hubby could not buy, bully, or leverage her way in. That really is pathetic, but it’s the truth.

What’s going to come of the Murphys going forward? Thank God the good citizens of New Jersey only have two more years left of the Murph as governor, but that’s two years more of a ton of damage the pinko can possibly do. Hopefully they’ll pack up their bags and head out of the Land of 1000 Diners…perhaps fancying themselves suitable for more office, finding a better place to try and run. Carpetbagging worked for Hillary – just like it did for the Murph.

With Phil’s new hairdo and other indicators, many think he’s eyeing a run for the White House. Even if Biden does not end up on the ballot as the Democratic nominee (for whatever reason), Governor Gavin Newsom, D-Calif., is tapped as the favored substitute to swoop in.

Will the Murphys stick around and crud up New Jersey more in the long run? Did Tammy learn her lesson that even if her crooked grinning counterpart could buy his way into office, she couldn’t? New Jersey won’t exactly be in good hands if Andy Kim wins the election. Our firearms are no more safe with Menendez and Murphy out of the picture, that’s for sure. Hopefully the GOP will get their act together.

On a personal level, all I can say is it brings me pleasure to know we won’t be dealing with another Murphy in office. New Jersey deserves better, and holy cow, the Democrats even figured this out.

Above all, this is not just Tammy’s loss. Phil is a loser too. Phil Murphy – You get nothing! You lose! Good day, sir!
