Ellenton Shop Owner Shoots Gun at Armed Robber

A Florida coin store owner was helping a customer appraise some jewelry when the man pulled out a pistol and struck the owner in the forehead. As the owner staggered backwards from the blow, the suspect fired the pistol three times–intending to kill and then rob the store. Thankfully, the owner managed to grab his own gun nearby and fire once–forcing the suspect to flee.

Police continue to look for the suspect and are not sure if he was struck while leaving the building. The store owner suffered lacerations on the head but is expected to make a full recovery. Authorities say the owner is lucky to have had a weapon on hand to defend himself otherwise the criminal may have taken his life.
