Two newspaper delivery drivers were on the early morning shift when they noticed a vehicle beginning to follow them. They initially ignored it and prepared more deliveries when they heard four shots from behind them. The suspect immediately appeared by the window and knocked with his gun, demanding them to open the door.
Fearing for their lives, one of the drivers pulled out his legally obtained concealed firearm and shot at the armed gunman. Three bullets struck the criminal in his collarbone and arm, and forced him to flee the scene. Police later received a 911 call from the suspect reporting gunshot wounds. Authorities transported the criminal to the hospital and praised the driver for his actions:
“This guy got much more than he bargained for,” said Chief Gary Hester. “These victims feared for their lives and did exactly what they needed to do. This could have turned out so much worse than it did.”
