Never Bring A Gun To A Taxi Fight

Be nice to taxi drivers in Dubuque. They don’t suffer fools lightly, and if you try to rob them they may shoot you, or crash into you, or both.

On March 17th, 2014, at 10:11 p.m. Dubuque Police responded to the area of 2nd and Main Street on the report of a disturbance involving shots fired and a vehicle crash. Upon arrival officers met with a cab driver who reported being the victim of an attempted armed robbery inside his cab, during which he discharged his legally carried firearm in self-defense. A second cab driver in the area attempted to intervene and stop the robbery by crashing his cab into the victim’s cab. After a brief struggle with the cab drivers, the suspect fled the area and was not relocated. Evidence located at the scene indicates the suspect may be injured.
