WINNING THE WAR ON WOMEN: NC Grandfather Takes Out THREE Would-be Rapists
A trio of serial home invaders met their match in a 67-year-old Lumberton, North Carolina grandfather who shot them all when they attempted to rape is 19-year-old granddaughter.
The incident started around 10 pm at a house on Yedda Road in Lumberton on Monday night when someone knocked on the home of the grandfather, his wife and their 19-year-old granddaughter, according to the sheriff’s office.
Two of three men – all wearing black clothes, ski masks and gloves — stormed into the house and demanded money, officials said.
The grandfather and his wife ended up in the back of the house and were directed at gunpoint to open a safe. The three men were all armed and tried to rape the teen girl, officials said.
The 67-year-old grandfather managed to grab a gun and shot all three of the suspects. The suspects fired back and the grandfather was hit several times, deputies said.
After that, all three wounded suspects fled in the grandfather’s gold Cadillac.
The grandfather was transported by ambulance to one hospital and then airlifted to a trauma center were here he underwent life-saving surgery, and remains in critical condition.
The three serial home invaders weren’t as lucky.
Jamie Lee Faison was found dead of gunshot wounds in the grandfather’s Cadillac, which the trio had stolen to make their getaway. He was 20 years old, and was abandoned by his co-conspirators.
Brandon C. Stephens (28) and Jamar Hawkins (17) were also both shot by the grandfather and suffered serious injuries. They were also airlifted to an unnamed hospital for treatment. Despite the best efforts of emergency medical personnel, they both survived the trip.
If they recover, both Stephens and Hawkins face a long list of felony charges in just this crime, up to an including capitol murder for the death of Faison under the felony murder rule. They could face the death penalty.
They also face a potential second capital murder charge if the grandfather does not recover from his wounds, several counts of attempted murder, felony sex crimes, car theft, armed robbery, etc, etc.
They stand to face other charges if they can be tied to or confess to the other home invasions that they appear to have committed.
Neither man should ever expect to set foot outside of prison for the rest of their lives.
