Woman Kills Sex Offender Breaking Into Her Home In Texas

A woman living near Canton, Texas, didn’t follow the Moms Demand Action playbook when a serial felon and sex offender attempted to break into her home. She didn’t cower impotently in fear. She didn’t place a desperate, fruitless 911 call, screaming for a police officer or deputy that would never arrive in time to save her.

Actually, that isn’t entirely true.

She did eventually call 911, but only after she shot sex offender Chris Foster dead.

A woman shot a convicted sex offender who was attempting to forcefully enter her home early Tuesday morning, according to Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office. The woman called 911 about 4:30 a.m., and deputies responded to her home on Texas State Highway 19 north of Canton.

Upon arrival, deputies found Christopher Ray Foster, 37 of Edgewood, was dead. Investigators determined that Foster was in the process of forcing entry into a side door of the home when the homeowner fatally shot him.

You’ll note than the unnamed woman was simply doing as the Van Zandt County Sheriff suggests when she defended herself from sex offender Foster.

“Presently, as the result of underfunding and inadequate staffing at the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office, homeowners need to take appropriate precautions to protect their families,” Sheriff Michael Lindsey said. “I will continue to support the law abiding citizens of our community when they are forced to take actions to protect their lives, liberty and property.”

Evidence collected by investigators will be turned over to the Van Zandt County Criminal District Attorney’s Office as a matter of procedure, but all early indicators are that this defensive gun use was about as cut-and-dried as they come.

The woman who shot Foster not only defended her own life, but likely prevented a rash a future crimes as well.

We hope that she recovers from the trauma of having to take a life. It isn’t easy, even when it has to be done.
