3 Years Later, Advocates Press For Laws That Would Change Nothing

Self-described “gun safety” advocates are once again distastefully attempting to use the massacre of 26 people at Sandy Hook Elementary School to push their anti-gun political agenda.

U.S. gun control activists called for expanded background checks for firearms purchasers and for a ban on sales to people on federal watch lists on Monday, in a protest marking the third anniversary of the massacre at a Connecticut elementary school.

Speakers including U.S. Representative Gerry Connolly, a Virginia Democrat, and survivors of recent U.S. mass shootings made their call outside the Fairfax, Virginia, headquarters of the National Rifle Association lobbying group. About 100 people attended the protest in the Washington suburb.

On Dec. 14, 2012, 20-year-old A__ L___* shot and killed 20 first-graders and six educators at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, an attack that stands as one of the deadliest mass shootings in U.S. history. He began his attack by killing his mother at their home and ended it by turning his gun on himself.

Every single firearm used in that horrific attack three years ago today was purchased by the mass killer’s mother after she passed required FBI NICS background checks.

Every. Single. One.

Only one person on the federal watch lists is known to have ever killed someone. That was “no fly” list member Massachusetts Senator Ted Kennedy. No one on the “no fly” list has ever killed an American citizen with a gun.

Not. One. Soul.

These anti-liberty Democrats won’t tell you that citizens can find themselves on the “no fly” list or much larger terror watch list for little reason or no reason at all.  Citizens can find themselves on these lists for mistakenly using an expired credit card, for doing a Google searches deemed “suspicious” by the powers that be, for merely working with or living near someone that caught the government’s interest. Likewise, as I and several other journalists have discovered, you can be branded a potential terrorist for writing things that the Obama Administration does not like.

Gerry Connolly and other anti-gun Democrats attempting to use this tragedy to strip Americans of their civil rights are vile human beings.

The horrific massacre in Sandy Hook was committed by an evil young man who ruthlessly murdered his own mother to gain access to a locked gun safe. Inside that safe was the most popular rifle sold in the United States, which he used to carry our his attack. He walked into a defenseless school and had all the time in the world to slaughter everyone he encountered, leisurely changing partially-expended magazines for fresh ones after just a few shots, because radical anti-gun Democrats refused, and still refuse, to allow most schools to have armed school resource officers.

SROs have proven their worth in other attempted mass shootings since Sandy Hook.

In Troutdale, Oregon, two SROs engaged a would be mass killer within a minute of the first shots being fired, preventing a much larger loss of life.  In Arapahoe High School in Colorado, another SRO ended an attack by cornering the would-be mass murderer within 80 seconds.

Wayne LaPierre of the National Rifle Association has been right all along. The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun, and research bears that simple logic out.

Dr. Eric Dietz, director of Purdue University’s Homeland Security Institute, has concluded that the combination of armed SROs seeking out active shooters and armed faculty/staff barricading within classrooms to protect students is the best way to stop mass killings in our schools.

Anti-gun Democrats fight these life-saving policies tooth and nail, because maintaining their “all guns are always bad” dogma is more important that the lives of school kids.

Perhaps on this day we should be asking an entirely different question.

Why do Democrats hate guns more than they love children?
