A deeply mentally-ill man known to the FBI flew from Alaska to Florida, took a Walther PPS 9mm pistol out of his checked luggage inside an airport bathroom near the baggage claim, loaded it, and then opened fire in a so-called “gun free zone.”

Relatives of the man accused of Friday’s shooting rampage at a Florida airport say he had a history of mental health problems and was receiving psychological treatment at his home in Alaska.

E___ S___*, 26, retrieved his gun from his bag on the carousel, loaded it in a bathroom of the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, then emerged shooting in the baggage-claim area, killing five people and wounding eight, authorities said.

Florida Gov. Rick Scott said Saturday the wounded include some who “are fighting for their lives.”

“It’s just senseless acts,” he said at a news conference at the airport.

S____ brought a gun in a checked bag on an Air Canada flight, officials said. “He claimed his bag and took the gun from baggage and went into the bathroom to load it. Came out shooting people in baggage claim,” Broward County Commissioner Chip LaMarca wrote on Facebook.

The killer managed to kill five and wound six (earlier claims said there were eight wounded) with his low-capacity handgun. He loaded the gun in the airport, and reloaded it twice during the attack. He shot all his ammunition, and then when his gun ran dry, he set it down and waited to be arrested.

Clearly, limits on magazine capacity do not work. The magazines for his gun only holds 7 or 8 rounds. It comes with one 7 round and one eight round magazine. He then bought a spare.

His victims were utterly defenseless, denied even pocket knives to defend themselves by the TSA’s silly security theater.

Dr. John Lott has crunched the numbers at the Crime Prevention Research Center, revealing that so-called “gun free zones” (and Florida’s baggage claim areas are presently “gun free” for everyone except terrorists, criminals, and the mentally ill) are by far the targets of choice for mass killers.

98.4% of all mass shootings since 1950 have occurred in these areas.

One of these days people are going to realize that “gun free zones” are a magnet for pyschopaths looking for large groups of unarmed victims and demand that these ignorant policies and laws are repealed.

Hopefully that day will comes before the next person killed in one of these areas is someone you love.
