Crazed man enters apartment "looking for God;" resident arms herself and drives him out

The overwhelming majority of times firearms are used in self defense, the mere display of the firearm is enough to drive the offender away. This was the case Friday night in Milwaukie, Oregon:

A Milwaukie woman pulled a handgun on an intruder who entered her apartment Friday night and scared him off, just minutes after he told a neighbor he was “looking for God.”

Police arrested a 23-year-old Clackamas man in connection with the incident. Nathanael William Forbister was taken to Portland Adventist Hospital for a mental-health evaluation.

The best kind of defensive gun use is when the gun never has to be fired. Let’s hope that Mr. Forbister gets the mental help that he needs so that he doesn’t barge into any other homes and get himself shot in the process.
