A Nebraska man out on bond from two previous crimes was shot and killed as he attempted a home invasion against a good guy with a gun.
An armed man who allegedly broke into a Bellevue apartment was shot and killed Saturday night.
Police say one of the occupants of the apartment near East 19th Avenue and Main Street confronted 21-year-old Tyrell Dalia of Omaha, who was holding a handgun, and shot him just before 9 p.m.
Sean Sammons told WOWT 6 News that several of his friends were in the home when Dalia broke in. None of his friends were injured during the incident. “Makes me happy to know that none of them are injured or possibly dead. It’s the first time I’ve heard of something like this at all.”
Police said the homeowner used his own gun to defend himself. Investigators took a shot gun out of the home as part of their investigation.
Dalia faced two felony charges stemming from a previous domestic incident, where he had barricaded himself in an apartment after threatening his girlfriend via text messages, including sending her pictures of weapons. Dalia kicked the windows out of a police cruiser and ran before being recaptured.
Dalia won’t be threatening anyone anymore.
