KNIFE TO A GUN FIGHT: Flint Armed Robber Meets His Match

A Flint, Michigan robber armed with a knife thought that he had an easy score, until his “victim” turned out to be better armed.

Flint police were called to Clio Road on Thursday, Oct. 16, around 7:20 p.m. in reference to an attempted armed robbery, according to a police report.

Police said the suspect was armed with a knife, however, the intended victim was armed with a gun.

Police said the victim was able to hold the suspect at gunpoint until officers arrived on scene.

Fortunately for both the robber and the gun owner the robber had enough sense to realize that he was in a very bad situation, and he became compliant instead of forcing the gun owner into the position of having to fire on the criminal.

Defensive gun uses are very common, but they rarely make the news unless the defender is forced to fire at the criminal. This non-firing defensive gun use is only newsworthy in the eyes of the media because it is very rare for the armed citizen to actually hold the criminal for responding police.

There are thought to be hundreds of thousands to several millions of defensive gun uses every year (depending on the cited study) where the mere presence of a firearm sends the criminal running for cover.
