Sturm Ruger CEO Michael Fifer pointed out an uncomfortable truth about the radicalized presidential campaign of Democrat Hillary Clinton during an earnings report on Wednesday: Hillary Clinton is campaigning to bankrupt the entire gun industry.

Hillary Clinton is “actively campaigning against the lawful commerce in arms”, the chief executive officer of the America’s largest gun manufacturer said on Wednesday.

Discussing Sturm Ruger’s second-quarter earnings, CEO Michael Fifer was asked whether Clinton’s presidential campaign had anything to do with a rising demand. Background checks for gun sales have reached record levels following a series of mass shootings and Clinton’s calls for restrictions on firearm sales.

Fifer said Sturm Ruger had no way of measuring political impact or assigning it to any one politician’s comment. “But certainly this is a unique time in our history because for the first time ever we have a nominee of a major political party, one with a very real likelihood of winning the presidency, overtly stating that the supreme court got it wrong in the Heller case and actively campaigning against the lawful commerce in arms,” he said.

Clinton has been intentionally lying about the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA) time and time again, with variations of the following statement.

“So far as I know, the gun industry and gun sellers are the only business in America that is totally free of liability for their behavior. Nobody else is given that immunity. And that just illustrates the extremism that has taken over this debate.”

Clinton’s claim that the gun industry is “immune from liability” is 100-percent false as an objective matter of fact, and even Even gun control supporters are willing to admit that Hillary Clinton is lying.

“The 2005 law does not prevent gun makers from being held liable for defects in their design. Like car makers, gun makers can be sued for selling a defective product. The problem is that gun violence victims often want to hold gun makers liable for the criminal misuse of a properly functioning product.”

In other words: If you aim and fire a gun at an attacker, it’s doing what it was intended to do. If it explodes while you shoot and hurts you, though, then you can sue the manufacturer. Likewise, if you had told the gun-store owner you planned to commit a crime with that gun, your victim could potentially sue.

Gun makers and sellers can be sued, and are being sued right now, some of them in famous cases for both negligence and criminal actions.

Remington is famously currently negotiating a class-action settlement that will cost them millions over a defective trigger design.

Century Arms is currently battling a lawsuit over faulty safeties that allegedly don’t work.

Badger Guns just lost a famous case for selling guns to an obvious straw purchaser, who them used the gun to shoot two police officers.

The PLCAA has never offered blanket immunity to the industry. Hillary Clinton is directly and intentionally lying to the American people about what it does. As the cases above clearly show, manufacturers and sellers who make defective products or who act criminally can of course be sued, just like any other business.

The PLCAA does one thing, and one thing only: it protects the firearms industry from frivolous lawsuits filed by gun control supporters in hopes of bankrupting gun dealers and gun companies.

Ruger’s CEO is entirely correct in noting that Hillary Clinton is “actively campaigning against the lawful commerce in arms.” She’s lying about the gun industry and looking to put tens of thousands of American workers out of work in order to pursue a radical gun control agenda.

It’s too bad her allies in the media refuse to tell the truth about the Democrat frontrunner.
