Grinch Killed After Attacking Guard At Christmas Gift Drop-Off Site

A grinch who attacked an armed guard outside an Operation Christmas Child drop-off site in Eagan, (MN) has won the room temperature challenge.

A man died early Monday morning after being shot by a security guard, police say.

The security guard told authorities with the Eagan Police Department that he shot somebody who had attempted to rob him. Officers responded to the scene near the 900 block of Aldrin Drive just after midnight and found a man dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

According to investigators, the armed security officer was working in the area when he was attacked by the man, who was armed with a gun. Authorities say the man assaulted the security guard and that the guard then shot the man.

The security guard sustained minor injuries.

Sadly, toy drop-off sites are fairly common targets for criminals, which is why armed guards sometimes protect the toys collected by charity organizations so that needy children can have Christmas presents they may not otherwise receive.

The preliminary report suggests that the armed robber in this incident physically assaulted the guard instead of firing shots. I’m not going to be terribly surprised if this turns out to be another incident where the suspect was armed with a BB gun or airsoft pistol.

It’s fortunate that the guard was able to draw his weapon and effectively get it into the fight to end the threat before being seriously injured.
