Can Negan's Bat REALLY Stop A Bullet?

I stopped watch the “Talking Dead” a couple of seasons ago, but it’s still very popular, and there’s a villain on the series called Negan who likes to bash people in the head with a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire. In open episode, a character tried to shoot him, and he blocked the bullet with his bat.

Would that really work?
