He’s clued me in to the fact that revolvers chambered for the .327 Federal Magnum—which is technically a super magnum—may be the most overlooked and capable self-defense revolver cartridge on the market. Why?

Revolvers chambered in .327 Federal Magnum can fire three different calibers, accommodating shooters regardless of how recoil averse they may be.

The most recoil averse shooters can easily fire the .32 S&W Long, an old police and self defense cartridge that is both very low-recoiling and very accurate. Those shooters who want something a little hotter can move up to the .32 H&R Magnum, where hotter loads exceed the power of the best .38 Special rounds and are on par with really good 9mm ammunition. Those willing to step all the way up to .327 Federal Magnum have the option of shooting loads with all the practical power of a .357 Magnum with much less recoil and an extra bullet in the gun.
