Gavin Newsom Is a Cal-tastrophe For Gun Owners

Now that California Governor Gavin Newsom has signed more than a dozen gun control bills into law, what happens next? The lobbyist for the California Rifle and Pistol Association, Roy Griffith, joins me to talk about that and more on today’s Bearing Arms’ Cam & Co.

In addition to removing the cap on fees counties can charge for concealed carry licenses, adding more guns to the state’s one-gun-a-month law, banning gun shows at the state-owned Del Mar Fairgrounds, dramatically expanding the state’s “red flag” law, and declaring that all “precursor parts” will soon have to go through a background check, Griffith points out that Newsom signed a law that will outright ban the hunting of bobcats in California.

Bobcats are not endangered in any way in California. In fact, the population is more threatened by suburban sprawl and vehicle traffic than anything else, but the governor can’t even acknowledge that fact, though he did sign a bill that says if you hit a deer, elk, wild hog, or antelope with your car you can take it home and eat it. Not a bobcat though. Gotta leave that by the side of the road.

Gun owners in California are beleaguered right now, but they’re still fighting. And as Roy Griffith told me, anything that gains traction in California will be headed to other states soon. Hold on to your rights… it’s gonna be a bumpy ride.

Also on today’s program, we’ve got an armed citizen story from New York City (yes, really), a man accused of murdering his father-in-law and kidnapping his wife and mother-in-law the day after he was released from jail for violating a protective order, and a good deed performed by an off-duty officer from Virginia in the ocean at St. Augustine Beach, Florida.
