As Congress Returns, 2nd Amendment Sanctuaries Are Watching

On today’s edition of Bearing Arms’ Cam & Co. we breakdown the legislation most likely to see daylight in Congress now that lawmakers are back on Capitol Hill after the August recess. We also discuss how any new federal gun control legislation is likely to embolden the relatively new “2nd Amendment Sanctuary” phenomenon, which began in Effingham County, Illinois in April of 2018 and has since spread to hundreds of communities around the United States.

David Campbell, one of the commissioners in Effingham County, joins the show to discuss the movement and how 2nd Amendment sanctuaries would likely respond in the face of unconstitutional gun control laws being passed by Congress. Just as “sanctuary cities” like San Francisco tell the federal government “we’re not going to lift a finger to help you enforce your immigration laws”, you may very well see 2nd Amendment sanctuaries tell Uncle Sam the same thing about his new gun control laws. You want to enforce them? Go ahead, but don’t expect any help from us.

We also have a young man wanted for murder who’s no stranger to Chicago’s criminal justice system (though the Chicago Tribune is more interested in concealed carry holders than career criminals), an armed citizen story from Houston, and a life-saving good deed at a Michigan rest stop. You can also find the show at Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, and the Townhall.com podcast page. Thanks as always for listening, watching, and spreading the word!
