Quite the harrowing situation down in Texas. A female bank teller and her husband were kidnapped from their home and ordered to drive to the teller’s bank. The couple were at home when two armed men forced their way in and held the couple at gunpoint.
According to authorities, the criminals knew that the wife was a bank teller. After breaking in, the intruders brought the couple to their car and demanded that they drive to the bank—where they proceeded to remove money from a safe.
When they returned, they told the husband to continue driving in a different direction. Somehow during this drive, the husband was able to grab his own firearm, which had been concealed in the vehicle.
He turned and fired at the suspects, striking both of them. One of the suspects succumbed to his wounds while the other is listed as in serious condition.
Police describe the suspects as brothers, aged 20 and 21, who happened to live in the same neighborhood. Thankfully the husband and wife were not injured during the encounter.
From local news KHOU,
Those who know them said the husband is a reserve officer with the sheriff’s department and that the community has their back.
“I’m sure that they’re both going to be upset for awhile,” resident Brenda Buehler said. “It’s a frightening thing to have happen, but I think everybody’s going to tell them good job.”
“It’s very positive to a community to hear that the good guy does win in the end,” resident Evan Mullins said.
“It could have turned out so much worse,” store owner Debbie Damon said.
