A woman in Garner, NC was saved after her neighbor stepped in and took aim to end a savage attack that could have killed her.
Authorities say they were called to an apartment in the 1800 block of Spring Drive shortly before 7am Sunday. Garner Police arrived on the scene to find three people in the building, two of whom were injured as a result of a domestic incident.
Police said according to witnesses, the couple’s domestic dispute started inside the female victim’s apartment at 1832 Spring Drive, then moved outside, into the parking lot of the apartment complex. That’s where the suspect, later identified as Randolph Maurice Davidson, 32, began to stab the woman.
“A nearby resident heard the screaming and yelling from the assault and came outside his apartment to investigate,” police said.
“Upon observing Davidson assaulting (the woman), he fired several rounds from his personal handgun, striking Davidson several times. Davidson then ran back into the apartment where police later found him.”
Police found the 26-year-old woman victim at the scene suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was transported by medical and listed in stable condition Sunday night, recovering from her injuries after undergoing surgery at WakeMed ICU.
Authorities say Davidson was shot multiple times and although also being transported to WakeMed, he later died from his injuries.
No charges have been filed against the armed citizen and good neighbor who stepped in to end the attack.
