If the FBI’s gun background check data is any indication, and it is, we may actually knock last year’s gun sale total on its tukas.

According to the FBI, a total of 12,601,102 checks were run in the first six months of 2017. Last year saw a record 27,538,673 checks conducted and while we may only be on pace to break 25 million checks this year, according to industry representatives, current cut-rate deals and manufacturer incentives could spike sales.

A recent Pew Research Center survey also found that nearly three-quarters of the country have fired a gun, and that number only continues to grow.

Michael Bazinet, with the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), says it’s no secret to why gun sales continue to soar.

“There has never been a better time to exercise your Second Amendment rights and be involved in the shooting sports, whatever your level of experience,” Bazinet told Bearing Arms. “The choice of firearms, ammunition, optics and other accessories, not to mention the ever increasing quality of the ranges and the variety of training available makes it an exciting time!”

What can you do to help spread the love of shooting sports? Bazinet has the answer:

“Get involved or become more active, take someone shooting, talk about your experiences, and share them on social media!”
