What’s with all the hammers in today’s stories?!

Police in Tulsa, OK say a homeowner was forced to arm herself after a woman broke into a home and threw a hammer at her!

The incident happened Monday night in the 6900 block of East 18th Street at approximately 11:30 p.m. Sgt. Stephen Florea said the female homeowner told police she was sitting on her bed when the intruder, described as a “black female”, smashed her window. The next thing the homeowner knew, there was a hammer flying at her.

That’s when she got her handgun and fired at the would-be intruder.

Tulsa World reports:

Two women reportedly had approached the resident earlier in the evening looking for her daughter. They threatened to harm the daughter and return and “tear up her house,” Florea stated in a news release.

Police have not yet been able to identify the prowler. However, officers suspect the incident is related to a protective order against the ex-boyfriend of the resident’s daughter.

Officers took the hammer as evidence and hope to find fingerprints on it, Florea said.

The homeowner was treated by first responders for cuts she sustained from the broken window.

Authorities are asking anyone with information on this case to contact Crime Stoppers by phone at 918-596-COPS (2677), online at p3tips.com/918 or through the Tulsa Tips app.
