A woman and several children were reportedly in their Spokane, Washington home when an intruder attempted to break in late Thursday afternoon.
The woman’s neighbor said his son alerted him after he witnessed a man jumping over a fence and approaching the woman’s home next door where he watched him kicking at the back door.
The man grabbed his gun and went outside to confront his neighbor’s home intruder, who was still attempting to break in and holding a metal pole at the woman’s back door.
According to court documents, the neighbor began yelling at the suspect to stop. The suspect then reportedly advanced toward him, threatening to kill him several times while swinging the metal pole at him.
At that time, the neighbor drew his weapon and instructed the suspect to drop the pole. The neighbor was able to hold the suspect at gunpoint until authorities arrived on the scene.
Several witnesses in the neighborhood corroborated the neighbor’s account of the incident.
Frederick D. Orr, 42, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree burglary and felony harassment-threats to kill. During his court appearance on Friday, the judge set his bond at $100,000.
