Baby Mama Gets Shoved, but her Granny Wasn't Having it

On Friday, June 24, 2016, 23-year-old Daryl Thomas got into a heated argument with the mother of his child at her grandmother’s house in Jackson, MS. The argument continued to escalate and the fight caused damage to the woman’s home.

Finally, Thomas shoved the young woman to the ground.

That’s when her grandmother told Thomas to leave her home and warned him not to come back.

He should have listened… but he didn’t.

JPD Commander Tyree Jones said the women stated Thomas returned to the woman’s home shortly before 6:30 a.m. – this time, with a knife.

However this time, granny was done using verbal commands. The 74-year-old woman, fearing for her safety and the safety of her young granddaughter, grabbed her gun and shot Thomas in the leg.

After being treated at the local hospital, Thomas was taken into custody and charged with simple assault and malicious mischief.

Shamefully, the 74-year-old homeowner, who shot Thomas to protect herself and her granddaughter, was also charged. Her aggravated assault charge has been sent to the grand jury for review.
