While some in the NFL are proud to stay seated in response to the national tension between law enforcement and the communities they police, one team in the Frozen Tundra is stepping up.
Yes, this Green Bay gal may be all kinds of biased, but I don’t care:
Proud to follow Green Bay Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy’s impressive lead, the Packers Organization matched his $100,000 donation to the Green Bay Police Foundation, and together the Packers presented a total of $200K to support the Foundation’s efforts in building and enhancing relationships between the police and the community.
“I’m excited to support the Green Bay Police Foundation and its work to help all the Green Bay communities build those relationships,” McCarthy said. “It’s important so our children can grow, they can invest, and they can project a healthier and safer community. We want to shine a positive light on the enhancement of these engagement projects that are already in place.”
The Green Bay Police Foundation, founded in June of this year, is a non-profit organization that promotes excellence in area police departments and helps to improve public safety and partnerships in the community.
“We are proud to be involved in an initiative that will benefit the greater Green Bay area and have a lasting impact on our community,” Packers’ President and CEO Mark Murphy said.
The Foundation still needs to raise $200,000 in a matching donation in order to secure that same amount already raised by McCarthy and the Packers Corporation. If you’re feeling generous, you can help them out by making a donation.
Way to take action to improve our community, guys – Go, Pack, Go!
