Is Bulletproof Glass Strong Enough to Withstand a .50 Cal?

How strong is bulletproof glass?

First of all, the name itself is a bit of a misnomer, as it’s not “bullet proof” and not really “glass” but layers of acrylic, polycarbonate, polyurethane or other resins, and fiberglass. Being “bullet resistant” is not the same as “bullet proof” and even a Level 8 rated sheet of glass-clad polycarbonate, which can withstand a shotgun blast, a shot from an AK-47, or round after round from a 9mm pistol, will eventually give way when hit with sufficient ammunition.
