Windy City Thanksgiving Started With String of Armed Robberies

What better way to get ready for one of America’s original holidays than by going on a string of violent and armed robberies? A set of individuals in Chicago were noted to have greeted their fellow citizens and gave them thanks by divesting them of their personal belongings while waving a gun in their faces. This is a shining moment for the leadership in Chicago and obviously the people of the Windy City have much to be thankful for. These individuals are considered to still be on the lam.

This alert gives notice to citizens in the 8th, 9th,10th and 12th Districts of recent Armed Robbery incidents. In each incident, two to four male offenders approached victims, displayed black handguns or long gun and demanded the victim’s property. The offenders took the victim’s property and fled from the scene in a light or dark blue 4-door sedan, possibly a Toyota or Hyundai.

Not a bad way to start off Thanksgiving? How many instances are we really talking about though? Crime proliferates around the holidays, we all know that, but this was Thanksgiving, so it shouldn’t have been that bad, should it?

Okay, in different clusters of time frames, the robberies occurred about every five minutes. That’d be 12 recorded incidents these alleged perpetrators executed, nevermind any unreported ones.

What always gives me some jollies is the advice that CPD puts out to their citizens to deal with such situations:

  • Always be aware of your surroundings
  • Report suspicious activity immediately
  • If you are confronted by an assailant remain calm
  • Remember any unique physical characteristics (scars, limp, acne, teeth, etc.)
  • Never pursue a fleeing assailant, provide the information to the police
  • If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information
  • Dial 9-1-1 immediately and remain on scene when possible

The City of Chicago, the Chicago Police Department, et.al. always neglect one of the most valuable tools that could be used to self-protect. You guessed it, social workers. No, that’s what the dullards would say we need more of. We’re talking about firearms.

We have the inalienable right to keep and bear arms in the U.S. This has been affirmed time and time again. Chicago was one of the final holdouts on even allowing people to own handguns in the city. It was not until the late great Otis McDonald saw that the city be brought behind the woodshed by the Supreme Court of the United States, that citizens could own pistols in Capone’s former stomping grounds.

To put things into acute focus though, the right to carry a firearm concealed for self-defense in Illinois, and by extension Chicago, has been with the people for several years. Before people in New Jersey could carry guns. Well before NYSRPA v. Bruen. Yet the leadership continually ignores having an armed populace as being a viable option to mitigate the crime that proliferates and or stop the commission of violent encounters.

Stop, drop, and roll, might be the right way to handle the situation if one’s on fire, but not in a violent encounter. Their advice to potential crime victims is essentially that, where there’s no enabling of or victim empowerment being encouraged. Their list of recommendations could have more efficacy if there were any teeth in the toolbox.

It’d be nice for city officials in these pinko strongholds to one day just throw up their hands and say, “Ya know, we’re doing it wrong. Folks, get strapped before you get whacked.” Firearms are not the answer to every situation, avoidance is the best defense to any conflict, but guns have been known to be useful a handful of times – eye roll – in our history. We know no such concessions will ever be made. Our best case scenario in the future would include the totalitarians just being mum on the subject, rather than trying to combat/subvert the civil liberty.

Who knows what kind of goodness we’ll get out of Chicago post Thanksgiving, through Black Friday, and over the weekend. We can be assured there won’t be any fairy tales being told as long as a progressive disarmament rule is presiding over the subjects of Chicago. Maybe there’ll be some rape whistle sales on Cyber Monday for would-be victims?
