Women are the largest growing demographic of new gun owners. Iron Rose Shooting Club caters to women and is hosting their “Rise Together” weekend, October 4, 2025 in N.H.
With an emergence in female gun ownership, the days of painting it pink and calling it good are over. Groups like the Iron Rose Shooting Club have been popping up all over the country. Run by Manchester Firing Line range co-owner TerryAnn Bowen, Iron Rose aims “to create a space where women could find guidance and camaraderie in a supportive environment.” The organization is hosting their inaugural "Rise Together" weekend and it has quite a lineup.
Last week we reported on a “Family-Friendly Firearm Safety Event” that was sponsored by the United States Concealed Carry Association Action Fund. The children’s event was also held at Bowen’s Manchester Firing Line. Bowen teased her "Rise Together" weekend when we were there, and we dug in.
What’s included and does this cost money? First things first, yes, there’s a signup and the event is not free. What’s included depends on what guests wish to participate in. “Build your own schedule by choosing from a variety of workshops,” the event page states. “Some have limited spots, so register early to lock in your favorites.”
While it’s not mandatory, there is a check in on Friday October 3, with workshops beginning on Saturday October 4. While there are shooting events and women’s shooting events all over the country, the lineup of guest lecturers and instructors is what makes this event unique.
Andee Reardon, Ashley Robertson, April Allgire, Kate Giddins, Thomas Brown, and Tyler Shaw are listed as presenters for the event. It was also announced that friend to Bearing Arms, Olympian, and “Top Shot” contestant Gabby Franco will be the event’s keynote speaker.
TerryAnn Bowen told Bearing Arms that she actually came from a non-gun home in anti-gun Lowell, Massachusetts. It wasn’t until she left the mill town and got with her former Marine husband, Jake Bowen, until she was exposed to firearms.
“He didn't know how to educate me. You can say I needed education, that's clear. But the education, that was missing also,” TerryAnn Bowen said. “He didn't know how to get me there. He didn't know how to make me understand that I needed the education.”
Bowen’s trek learning about firearms in addition to encountering women at the range who had the same questions over and again motivated her to start Iron Rose.
“I want to honor the men that built this industry,” TerryAnn Bowen told Bearing Arms. “100% they built the industry. But I started Iron Rose to champion and grow female leaders so that we're sitting at the table also. And teaching people — men and women — how to get that person to just find out if it's for them.” Bowen said she uses the opportunity to be a “big sister” for those who need guidance.
