Man Fatally Shoots Neighbor Who Was Trying to Drown 3-Month Old Twins

An Oklahoma City area man was fatally shot as he tried to drown his 3-month old twins in a bathtub while holding their mother at knife-point.

Leland Foster (27) made his way into the Ada, Oklahoma home his estranged wife was staying in and forced her and their infant twins into a bathroom where he then attempted to drown the babies.

A 12-year-old girl who was also in the house managed to run out of the home and flag down a neighbor. The young man grabbed his revolver and rushed to help. When he entered the home he witnessed Foster attempting to drown his babies – a boy and a girl – and shot him twice in the back. Foster succumbed to his wounds and according to NBC News affiliate station KFOR the babies were flown to Oklahoma City Hospital for observation and eventually released.

The neighbor many are calling a hero today comes with a name that seems befitting for saving the day…Cash Freeman.

KFOR News says was able to speak to a visibly shaken Freeman away from the cameras.

We spoke to Freeman off camera and he told us when he saw what was happening in the bathroom, he did what he had to do to save the babies. However, he told us he was concerned that he could be in trouble.

An Ada police spokesman says Freeman was brought in for questioning and subsequently released. It will be up to the district attorney to determine if it was a justifiable homicide or not.

At least one neighbor – Summer Pierce – thinks Freeman’s actions don’t warrant any charges.

“I think he did the right thing because who knows what would happen, because who knows what would have happened to the babies if he hadn’t intervened. They might not have made it.”

The deceased had previously been charged with domestic abuse and arson in the first degree in 2011, to which he pleaded no contest.
