The process to be a “suppressor owner” is a labor of love. We hand over our hard earned money and then we wait. When we finally get our cans we want them to last and we want the ability to put them on as many of our guns as possible thus getting more use out of them. At Suppressed Fest I had the opportunity to talk with Energetic Arms who quite possibly produces the toughest suppressor on the market, the Vox. The Vox is a result of when nerds play with guns too. If you could only own one silencer this might possibly be the one.
WHAT MAKES THE VOX UNIQUE?
The core of the suppressor is CNC welded from C300 Maraging nickel-cobalt superalloy. Huh? That was at least my immediate thought. Basically this alloy was developed by NASA to use on the space shuttle to meet high-temp stress requirements. It has an incredible strength to weight ratio. Even at 1,000 degrees this alloy is stronger than stainless and titanium at room temp.
There are some real horror stories about folks that have had to send their suppressors back to the manufacturer for repair. Since the ATF strictly regulates the components of suppressors it can be difficult to get suppressors repaired without having to buy an entirely new silencer and/or having a cobbled together repair job to salvage the suppressor. The Vox’s patent pending banded core (the part with the serial number) allows Energetic Arms to repair damaged silencers quickly by swapping out the core and putting the original serialized band back on the new one.
The Vox has a removable “wipe cap” at the end which is not a new design as far as suppressors go. For those of you that do not know. A wipe creates a seal trapping the gas exiting the can to lower the decibel rating a little further. The problem with wipes is that they need to be replaced after 30-40 rounds and they are a regulated part by the ATF. Energetic Arms decided to make this as painless as possible to replace your wipe by open sourcing the material that the wipe is made out of. This allows you to make your own wipes which is perfectly legal.
Mounting options will always be a bottle neck for suppressors. We want to use our silencers on as many guns as possible but muzzle compatibility can limit that whether it is a QD option or direct thread. The VOX™ can be used with all of the popular quick-disconnect mounting systems currently available. So if a lot of your firearms are already dedicated to a particular muzzle device then you can move the Vox around from gun to gun as needed.
ONE TIME PURCHASE
The Vox is new for 2018 and time will tell if this suppressor will live up to its specifications. I will tell you after shooting the Vox first hand at Suppressed Fest that it is very quiet and light weight. I had the opportunity to shoot 300 blackout through it and 5.56 but the can is rated up to 300 Winchester Magnum. The MSRP is coming in at $995 with your preference of silencer mounting options. This could be the only suppressor you will ever need.
