Biden Calls For Ban On Magazines That 'Hold More Multiple Bullets'

Joe Biden’s presidential campaign is absolutely awesome.

No, really, it is.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ll write-in Donald Duck for president before I’d vote for him and I agree with absolutely none of his policy positions, but his campaign itself is absolutely glorious. How else can you describe such comedy fodder?

Biden is so gaffe-prone that it’s hard not to follow his campaign just to see what idiocy he spouts next.

For example, he seems to think that we need to ban all magazines that can hold multiple rounds.

Former vice president Joe Biden responded to the mass murder in Odessa, Texas by calling for a ban on gun magazines that “hold multiple bullets in them,” as well as an assault weapons ban.

“This idea that we don’t have elimination of assault-type weapons, magazines that can have—hold multiple bullets in them, is absolutely mindless,” Biden said Monday. “It is no violation of the Second Amendment, it’s just a bow to the special interests, the gun manufacturers and the NRA. It’s gotta stop.”

All magazines that hold multiple bullets in them? You mean…all magazines?

Look, I get that anti-gunners don’t actually know anything about guns and that they don’t care to know anything either. However, if you’re going to talk about banning something, you should at least understand what you’re talking about banning.

Magazines, by definition, hold rounds. If you’re going to hold one extra round, you might as well more rounds. It just makes a lot of sense.

What Biden is apparently calling for here goes beyond the proposed banning of so-called high capacity magazines and into a ban on magazines altogether. I think we all know the reasons this would be a political non-starter. After all, such a ban would also impact lever-action rifles and numerous bolt-action firearms as well. You know, those hunting guns we keep being told they’re not going to come after.

Of course, this is also Joe Biden we’re talking about here. It’s probable that he’s talking about a ban on higher-capacity magazines and just Bidened up the delivery. (Yes, “Bidened” is a totally word. It’s a verb meaning, “to royally screw up what you’re trying to say to such a degree that it makes you look like an idiot.”)

That, at least, is a policy position that’s politically tenable. It’s stupid and useless, but there’s probably enough support in the halls of Congress that such a proposal is theoretically practical. It’s not complete gibberish, unlike Biden’s most recent comments.

Then again, this is the anti-gun establishment we’re talking about here. Assuming that Biden didn’t mean just what he said is foolish. Plus, even if he didn’t mean it that way, a lack of pushback may well signal to him and his camp that this is a feasible option to consider. That’s something no one should be willing to risk.

Be it another gaffe or a serious proposal, Biden’s call to ban any magazine that can hold multiple rounds is something that should be blasted and condemned until no one is willing to even consider pretending this is a viable policy proposal. It would serve Biden well to learn firsthand how stupid this comment was by being reminded of it with every appearance.
