SC Mom Uses Gun Against Home Invader

It seems like anti-gunners love to focus on the negative. They constantly trot out examples of where guns were misused by someone to prove their points. It’s why survivors of mass shootings like Parkland, or the loved ones left behind after someone is shot are so important to them. They’re living examples that some people do bad things.

But they fail to balance any of that against the legions of people whose lives have been saved by guns, people like this South Carolina mom.

A South Carolina mother-of-three took action after she heard a man attempting to break into her home – and shot him.

Ashley Jones of Anderson County told FOX Carolina she heard someone banging at her door early on Thursday. The mother said she called 911 and got her gun. She said she saw a man banging at her door when she peered out the window.

“I yelled, ‘I have a gun, I will shoot you, get away from my house,’” Jones said.

She said she used her gun after the intruder kicked her door in to come inside the home. Video surveillance outside her home captured the incident.

“So then he kicks the door in as soon as he kicks the door in and tries to take a step in my house that’s when I shot him and he ran off, she recalled. “Something just came over me, I got calm and my heart slowed down.”

The mother said she “would’ve killed him if I had to” if the intruder tried to come inside her home. She said she was thankful she had protection because she didn’t think she could fight off the man.

The authorities have ruled the shooting as self-defense. The bad guy was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, then arrested for first-degree burglary.

Now, let’s replay this one a bit for a moment. What do you think would have happened if she had been disarmed?

That’s something a large number of gun grabbers want in the world, a nation of disarmed citizens. So what would have happened?

The bad guy knew Jones was home. She shouted a warning to him, after all. If he thought it was an empty house, that should have convinced him otherwise, but no. He wanted in, and he knew people were in there. That means he had more than simple robbery in mind. At the very least, he sought to threaten and intimidate. I think only a fool would argue that’s all he wanted to do, though.

But instead of a damsel in distress, he found a damsel willing to cause him some distress.

Jones became one of the 2.5 million people every year who use a firearm in self-defense. However, her defensive use of a firearm won’t show up in some statistics, the ones the anti-gunners use to prove self-defense with a gun is rare because she didn’t kill the son of a b****. She only wounded him.

Make no mistake, while we can find plenty of stories of guns being used for nefarious purposes, we can find plenty more where they’ve saved human lives.
