White House Admits It's Prepping For Gun Control

The moment the Georgia runoff elections were over, anti-gun groups began salivating. They had their guy in the White House, a majority in the House, and a tie in the Senate with Democrats holding the tiebreaker. They were never going to get a better opportunity to cram gun control down America’s throat than this.

Then the inauguration came and went, and while President Biden signed a flurry of executive orders, absolutely none of them had anything to do with gun control.

Anti-gunner started to get antsy.

Well, it seems their wait is soon to be over.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki opened her daily briefing Thursday by announcing President Biden, Domestic Policy Advisor Susan Rice and other officials will be working on gun control policies over the coming weeks.

“Yesterday, senior members of his [Biden’s] team, Domestic Policy Advisor Susan Rice [and] White House Public Engagement Director Cedric Richmond hosted a virtual discussion with leaders of gun violence prevention groups to discuss our shared goals. The very gun violence prevention organization named for James Brady was part of that discussion, along with Giffords, Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action. These organizations all have a critical role to play,” Psaki said, saying more information about next steps will be provided soon. “Last year we saw a historic spike in homicides across America and we know gun violence in our cities disproportionately affects black and brown individuals. Last months we also saw a near record increase in gun sales.”

“Gun violence prevention” groups are gun control groups whose members support gun confiscation of lawfully purchased firearms. The groups named are rabidly anti-Second Amendment. Further, Psaki did not explain why homicides were on the rise last year, which directly correlated with the left’s defund the police movement.

As Townhall’s Katie Pavlich also noted, Psaki failed to acknowledge that the reason we know of the “near record increase in gun sales” was because of the federally-mandated background checks carried out.

In other words, there’s absolutely no reason to suspect increased gun sales led to the increase in homicides. If anything, the increase in homicides is leading to an increase in gun sales.

See, I’ve had the opportunity to speak with some law enforcement officers about the kind of homicides they’re seeing. Most, they tell me, are gang-related. Most of those that aren’t, however, are the result of someone investigating a bump in the night and ending up getting shot for it. People following the local news will notice this trend in their communities and decide they need a firearm, so they buy one.

Yet I think we all know that Biden’s efforts won’t look at that. It won’t take any of that into account.

Instead, he’ll treat each and every one of us as if we’re deadly criminals in the making. He’s already made his anti-gun agenda clear. He can’t differentiate between law-abiding gun owners and the senseless killers that plague our city streets.

At the end of the day, even if he gets everything he wants, it won’t stop anything.
